Our Vision
We believe that a big part of life is about sharing what we have learned with others. Our education does not stop with graduation, but instead is a lifelong experience. We strongly believe that the fundamentals of how we learn are developed at the preschool and early education level. With this in mind, We feel that early childhood teachers have one of the most important jobs in childhood education. Early childhood education should incorporate the highest standards of teaching academic, social, and emotional basics to children. This is necessary in order to provide them with the best possible tools for learning in their future.
We believe a teacher should be knowledgeable of how children develop. An integral part of an excellent education is that the teacher creates developmentally appropriate lessons. We also believe teachers should listen to students. By allowing them to share thoughts and ideas, we give them ownership of their education and a stronger sense of accomplishment. Teachers must recognize that each child is an individual with their own strengths and weaknesses to improve upon.
We believe that an early childhood classroom should be adaptable and stimulating. It should also be organized, clean, and safe. It should be a place where students can be engaged in learning through interacting with the world around them. Children in early childhood education should be involved in exploratory play, discovery, and problem solving as well as direct instruction. We believe that students benefit from a variety of teaching methods. It is important for a teacher to reach all students of varying abilities and intelligence. We feel that a variety of teaching styles incorporating social interaction, cooperative learning, and hands on experiences will help accomplish that goal.
We believe teachers should foster a love of reading. The early childhood classroom should have lots of exposure to books and written materials. A print rich environment is crucial for children to develop their reading and language skills and is a building block to early literacy.
We believe that every classroom should be a culture rich environment. Exposure to different cultures and races is paramount in teaching tolerance and acceptance. Children should acknowledge and celebrate their families’ cultures and that which makes us unique. Incorporating items and language from other cultures will give children a better understanding of the world around them and the wealth of knowledge that can be gained from other cultures. We also feel it is vitally important that teachers have a strongly cooperative relationship with students families. An excellent education begins with good collaboration between the teacher and parents.
We sincerely believe that a quality education in early childhood is when everyone is successful in making progress at any level. We are excited to see our students learn, grow, and explore our world. We will endeavor to be the best qualified, organized, and effective teachers who will strive to meet all the objectives in our philosophy and continue to better our skills to provide the best possible learning experience and outcome for our students.
